However, sometimes technical brilliance can't make up for a weak central premise. Unfortunately, that's the case with this particular story. While it may be impressive in its execution, the story itself just doesn't hold up.

Manas Singh Mahto, better known as Kapil Sharma, was a food delivery rider who had a twisted dream one night. In the dream, he found himself on a train searching for a mysterious "Sugam Form," which he was told was necessary to get a government job. The dream was so twisted and surreal that it left Kapil feeling bewildered and disoriented when he woke up.
Despite the bizarre nature of his dream, Kapil had to get back to his gig job of delivering food to customers. He was determined to make as much money as he could in order to provide for his family. But even with his best efforts, he struggled to bring in enough income to make ends meet.
Kapil's wife, Pratima, had her own aspirations for finding work. She was interested in a job as a mall sweeper, which would provide a more stable income than Kapil's gig job. Kapil, feeling insecure about his own job, was initially resistant to the idea of Pratima working, but eventually came around to supporting her.
Despite their struggles, Kapil and Pratima never lost hope. They were determined to find a way to live a better life, even if it wasn't a 5-star lifestyle. The ups and downs of their journey were reflected in the burstiness and complexity of their experiences, from the surreal dream to the challenges of working in the gig economy.
Review of Zwigato: Script Evaluation
Nandita Das and Samir Patil's film is a moving tale of a man struggling with poverty and finding his way in life. While some parts of the story are truly beautiful, other scenes can be jarring and uncomfortable to watch. For example, the Muslim delivery guy's fear of entering a temple to deliver food, or the person being discriminated against due to their caste, are moments that harm the film more than they help it. While I understand the intention behind including these scenes, I feel that they detract from the overall narrative.
In fact, moments like these slow down the already monotonous treatment of the story. When I watched the trailer, I expected the film to speak to the experiences of the entire service class through Kapil's character. However, the story tries to cover too many themes and ends up feeling unfocused. It spreads itself too thin, trying to achieve too much without mastering anything in particular.
Despite this, there are still some redeeming qualities to the film. The cinematography by Ranjan Palit is impressive, as he captures the narrow, gloomy lanes of Bombay in a way that mirrors the protagonist's down-and-out thoughts. Overall, while the film may have its flaws, it is still worth watching for its moments of beauty and its poignant portrayal of poverty in India.

Nandita Das is a filmmaker who has a penchant for slow-cooking her movies. We, as the audience, can appreciate the effort that goes into such a process. However, in her latest offering, the pacing feels off. Instead of building up tension, the film feels stagnant early on, which can be a turnoff for some viewers.
That being said, one aspect of the film that stands out is the music. Sagar Desai's score is an excellent complement to Nandita Das's storytelling. It's minimalistic yet effective, adding just the right amount of ambiance to the scenes. Hitesh Sonik, on the other hand, delivers an impressive range of music, from the bone-chilling background score of "Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway" to the catchy tunes of "Zwigato" (which coincidentally releases the same week). And let's not forget about his wife, the talented Sunidhi Chauhan, whose haunting rendition of "Yeh Raat" perfectly captures the melancholic tone of the film.
